The farm is a 750-sow unit operating a 4-week weaning system, currently re-popping. You will be responsible for the husbandry of the breeding gilts/sows and their offspring. You'll have support from your line manager and use modern and well-maintained equipment and tractors.

Job Description:

  • Feeding livestock (using either a trailed feeder or a tote bin and scoop)

  • Artificial insemination of breeding stock includes walking the gilts/sows to the service hub
  • Cull sows, boars, and weaners/piglets to be loaded onto HGV (or tractor drawn) haulage when required
  • Ensure the farm is run as a safe, welcoming, and supportive space
  • Communicating effectively with peers and line management is expected to maintain healthy working relationships
  • Play a role in raising high-health piglets whilst giving gilts and sows the best possible treatment
  • Attend all mandatory training
  • Follow all Health & Safety guidance

Salary: From £28,000 per year doe + a company pension
