We are recruiting Pig Stockpeople for a well-respected pig enterprise in Australia. 

Candidates should be based in Australia or have the right to work there. 

Our client is a farming group that is the fourth-biggest pork producer in the country (third on the Eastern Seaboard). It has over 12,000 sows and nearly 50 farms in Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

They are looking to fill multiple full-time positions at their pig production farms at various locations across Queensland. The Experienced Pig Stockpersons' roles are full-time. 

Person Specifications:

• Previous piggery experience. 
• Great attention to detail. 
• Self-motivation. 
• Team player. 
• High animal welfare standards. 
• Physically fit - the job is physically demanding.  
•  Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Certificate III in Agriculture (Pig Production), OR equivalent qualifications + 3 years of recent and relevant work experience, OR 5 years of recent and relevant work experience. 
• Already live or work in Australia (Citizen or on a VISA).

Job Role

• Supervise the site and facilities, including HR, physical resources, safety requirements, consumables, documentation, and measurement devices. 
• Provide overall maintenance and compliance of the company. 
• Facilitate the site's quality assurance program, ensuring all relevant documentation is current. 
• Supervise data collection and recording so information is accurate to aid stock and inventory control. 
• Undertake specific tasks assigned by management to ensure that environmental, quality and safety goals are met. 
• Implement preventable maintenance programs to reduce planned and unplanned downtime. 
• Supervise trial sheds and collect and record data in accordance with trial protocols. 
• Select breeding stock and/or pigs for sale. 
• Supervise and participate in daily livestock inspection so that the animals are appropriately fed and watered, and environmental parameters are fulfilled. The senior stockperson (piggery) must work with and supervise any less experienced stockperson. 
• Supervise and participate in daily livestock inspections, ensuring compromised animals are individually assessed, identified, treated, and recorded per the Company's Herd Health Plan and the industry's Model Code of Practice. 
• Euthanise sick or injured stock humanely and per the Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals: Pigs. 
• Conduct post-mortem examinations of deceased stock and report findings. 
• Collect boar semen at an artificial insemination laboratory. 
• Undertake processing duties within the artificial insemination laboratory. 
• Supervise and manage the mating of animals via individually supervised mating or through artificial insemination. 
• Supervise the birthing process, including the ability to conduct unsupervised internal assessments during parturition to minimise mortality physical rates. 
• Participate in company/industry training sessions and workshops as required. 
• Perform any other duty as required by the unit manager. 

Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 DOE
