We're recruiting for an experienced Pig Stockperson for a farm in the Central Belt of Scotland. 

Candidates will ideally be based in the Central Belt area of Scotland, but will be required to travel between units located in Scotland and northern England.  

The main unit holds approximately 2,000 pigs on a continuous flow. They arrive at 16 weeks old (50 kg) every 3 weeks and are dispatched to customers weekly between 21 and 25 weeks old. It is a straw-based system with scrapes through passages.

Primary responsibilities:

• General stock work
• Gilt selection (training will be provided)
• Lone working, so experience working with pigs in gilt grow outs/finishing pigs is essential
• Maintain high welfare standards
• Driving between sites (a driving licence is essential)

 

Salary: £30,000 – £33,000 DOE

Plus:

• A car allowance can be offered, and paid mileage
• Accommodation is possibly available for the right person

 

Hours:

• 39 hours per week, Mon–Fri
• Alternate weekends, required to work a Saturday & Sunday for a minimum of 2 hours per day
