Pig Industry Scholarship Programme

PISP

Roadhogs is now actively involved in the Pig Industry Scholarship Programme (PISP). PISP was developed by AHDB, the NPA and Harper Adams University in 2012. It is overseen by a steering group of industry and university representatives, including our General Manager, Simon, who is on the programme’s steering committee.

The Pig Industry Scholarship Programme recruits highly qualified and committed young entrants into the pig industry.

PISP gives companies across the sector an opportunity to engage with the next generation of industry professionals.

If you are looking to bring new talent into your business, read on.

Applications for host businesses are closing soon for the 2026/27 Pig Industry Scholarship Programme. The deadline for expressing an interest is Monday, 1 September 2025.

What are the benefits to sponsoring companies?

  • Attract potential new employees from a huge pool of talent
  • Gain first access to students who are looking for a 12-month industry placement
  • Be seen as a business that cares about upskilling the next generation
  • Establish a relationship with a student early in their studies
  • Opportunity to train and appraise a student during a ‘year-long interview’
  • Financial investment is comparable to advertising in the national farming press and is often tax-deductible

The programme has already supported over 50 students through paid, 12-month placements, many of which return to their sponsor companies after graduation.

Whether you’re in genetics, nutrition, engineering, production, transport, manufacturing, or vet science, your business can benefit from taking part.
