Our candidate began their Agricultural career aged 16 having been brought up on a mixed arable/sheep farm.
The family also kept rare breed pigs and which allowed the applicant to be involved with most aspects of the animal husbandry.
After several years of working as a harvest worker, this candidate gained experience as an agricultural contractor. They then took up a permanent post on a farm where they stayed for almost seven years working their way up from general farmhand to eventually becoming the farm's senior operator and sole spray technician.
Having worked on the family farm, our candidate learned about livestock management and the importance of high animal welfare to increase production. That good health and hygiene bring dividends in higher yields and reduced overheads.
This applicant is passionate about farming and animal welfare and is ready to enter the pig industry. They would like to commute to a unit from NR15.
